Privacy Policy — Akshara
Last updated: 24 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Akshara ("the app", "we", "us") handles
information when you use it. Akshara is a word-puzzle game for Indian languages, published by
Naveen Nagesh. By using the app you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information (only if you sign in). Sign-in is optional — you can
play without an account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and
email address from your Google account. Your name (or a name you set) and a
chosen avatar are shown to other players on public leaderboards. We do not use
or store your Google profile photo.
- Gameplay data. Your chosen language, avatar, settings, streaks and high
scores, so your progress and leaderboard ranking are remembered.
- Word reports. If you report a word (for example as wrong or offensive), we
store the word, the reason, and your account ID so we can review and fix the content.
- Usage & crash data. We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase
Crashlytics to see which screens are used and to diagnose crashes. This includes app events,
your device model and OS version, and — if you are signed in — your account ID.
- Advertising & device data. We show ads through Google AdMob. To serve and
measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier and limited device/usage
information in accordance with
Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, microphone or
health data.
2. How we use information
- To run the game and remember your language, avatar and settings.
- To show leaderboards and your score.
- To review words you report and improve the word packs.
- To measure usage and diagnose crashes so we can improve the app.
- To display advertisements that keep the app free.
3. Service providers
We rely on the following Google services, which process data on our behalf:
- Firebase Authentication & Cloud Firestore — sign-in, profiles and leaderboards.
- Google Analytics for Firebase & Firebase Crashlytics — usage measurement and crash reporting.
- Google AdMob — advertising.
See Firebase Privacy and
AdMob data disclosure.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Data is shared only with the service providers above
as needed to operate the app, or where required by law.
5. Children
Akshara is intended for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do
not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided
personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Your choices
- You can use the app without signing in.
- You can reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device settings, which limits
ad personalization.
- You can request deletion of your account data (see Contact).
7. Data retention, deletion & your rights
Profile and leaderboard data is kept while your account exists. Depending on where you live
(including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act and the GDPR), you may have the
right to access, correct or delete your personal data. To delete your data or exercise these
rights, email us at the address below and we will remove your profile and scores.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
